Alderaan

Alderaan was a planet that Princess Leia Organa called home, and homeworld of her adopted father Bail Organa. Alderaan was one of the greatest worlds of the Old Republic, and became a planet of peace after the horror of the Clone Wars. When the Republic became the Galactic Empire, Alderaan was a strong supporter of the Rebel Alliance. After the construction of the first Death Star, Grand Moff Tarkin had the vast weapon-ship destroy the entire planet and all its peoples, as a demonstration of power.
