The ancient Egyptian culture lasted from around 3000 BC to around AD 395, when the Byzantine Empire took it over and the last hieroglyphs fell into disuse. It remains one of the most recognized ancient cultures, with such elements as pyramids, mummies and the Sphinx in its history.
