Science fiction series by Arthur C. Clarke which he is most famous for. The original film, 2001: A Space Odyssey, was loosely inspired by his own short story "The Sentinel." The film expanded into its own novel, written by Clarke while collaborating on the film adaptation with Stanley Kubrick in 1968. The series is followed by three sequels. Comic books of 2001 and the sequel 2010 were published by Marvel; a film adaptation of 3001: The Final Odyssey may be in production. Since 2010, Clarke has consistenly stated that each of the Space Odyssey novels takes place in its own seperate parallel universe.
