Background
The Hand of Midas was believed to be a myth by many but stories told that whoever possessed the artifact was capable of turning anything into gold. It was being sought by the Forty Thieves and the King of Thieves which turned out to be Aladdin's own father. However, ultimately, Cassim decided that his son was more important and threw it at the ship of the Forty Thieves where it turned everything into gold after which it sank to the bottom of the sea.
