Imhotep (The Mummy)

Imhotep was a character that featured in The Mummy movies.

History

Imhotep was the trusted high priest of the dead of Pharoah Setti the Third who embarked on an affair with his masters mistress, Anacksanamun. During their affair, the Pharoah discovered the pair who were forced to kill him. This envoked the wrath of the Medjai who attempted to capture Anacksanamun though she killed herself. Imhotep stole her body and took it to Haunaptra in order to resurrect her but the Pharoah's bodyguards stopped the priest and ended the ritual too early.

As punishment, Imhoteph's priest were condemned to be mummified alive for their treachery. Imhoteph himself was placed in a coffin and wrapped in bandages where scarabs were placed with him in orderto feast on his flesh as part of the Hondai; the worst of the ancient Egyptian curses. The Medjai buried Imhotep in his tomb and stayed watched over him to prevent his release over the centuries as his return would bring about the destruction of mankind as he would become an undead being with great powers.

Cenutires later, many wars were fought over Hamunaptra which the Medjai watched over the place. Imhotep was finally released accidentally by Evie who read from the Book of the Dead. This awakened Imhotep who became an undead being that sought to feast on the flesh of those that sole from his tomb which rejuvenated his appearance into a more Human looking one. He noted that Evie resembled his lover Anacksanamun and attempted to place her soul within Evie. But he was stopped by her brother Jonathan who used the book to turn Imhotep's mummy guards against Anacksanumum who was killed once again.

Imhotep attempted to kill all those that wronged him and tried to kill Rick O'Connel but Evie used the Book of the Dead to strip Imhotep of his immortality. He was killed as a mortal by Rick who left him dying in a black pool in Hamunaptra. But this would not end the terror of Imhotep who remained and waited to return.

Overview

Imhotep had the power to control the sands able to cause great storms to consume planes and other enemies.
