Jabba the Hutt

Jabba the Hutt, a member of the Hutt species, was the undisputed kingpin of crime on the desert world of Tatooine, controlling spice trade and slavery throughout the Outer Rim territories. He maintained a popular public image by hosting the Boonta Eve podraces, but in reality he was was a vile, disgusting monster who liked seeing others suffer. He kept many scantily-clad dancing girls, who he fed to his pet Rancor.

Uninolved in the war between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Jabba nonetheless became a problem for the Alliance after he placed a bounty on Han Solo. After the bounty hunter Boba Fett captured Solo and brought him to Jabba's palace on Tatooine frozen in carbonite, the Rebels mounted a rescue operation. The initial rescue attempt failed, with Princess Leia winding up enslaved as one of Jabba's dancing girls. Luke Skywalker soon arrived, and demanded that Jabba free his friends.

Jabba, who did not believe Luke was a Jedi Knight, dropped him into the Rancor pit, but Luke killed the beast. An enraged Jabba ordered Luke, Solo and Chewbacca fed to the Sarlacc. However they escaped, and Jabba was killed by his own slave, Leia, who strangled the Hutt to death with the very chain he'd kept her prisoner with.
