The Perpetual Holographic Avatar Nano Tech Offensive Monster, also known as PHANTOM, was a type of monster that featured in Spider-man: Friend or Foe.

Background

The PHANTOMS were a mixture of biological based beings with that of technology. They were created by high advanced science which involved gathering Symbiote pieces from the meteor that brought Venom to Earth. These aspects were then merged with a solid light holographic based technology which created an organism that was not biological in nature. This allowed for the creation of hordes of PHANTOM based shocktroops that were created through specialist transmitters deployed onto the battlefield.

It was eventually discovered that Mysterio was responsible for the creation of the PHANTOMS and the capture of villains to serve his purpose. He was confronted by Spider-man who managed to defeat the villain which ended the global PHANTOM threat. Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. placed all knowledge of the disaster in a specialist file detailed as Project Carnage.

The PHANTOMs had various appearances from small footsoldiers to larger shock troopers. Each area of operation meant facing a different breed of PHANTOM with different skills. Their colour schemes were different depending on region though their appearance was somewhat simlar to the supervillain Venom. When damaged sigificantly, the PHANTOM enters into a daze as its body begins to destabilize. A weak point in larger PHANTOMs is their Light Core with an accurate strike capable of destroying the creature. PHANTOMs can be deployed very quickly and appear as a suddenly which might be due to their light based origins.
