History
Roughly a thousand years ago, the Shi'ar would encounter the M'Kraan and battle them after which they took their world as well as the M'Kraan crystal as their own divine artifact.
Centuries ago, the Shi'ar Empire fought another powerful race known as the Heptarchry. This large race were quite powerful and the Shi'ar sought methods through which they can inflict massive casualties with little devastation that would result in a war. As such, they brought about the development of the psychic Hecatomb weapon and deployed it against the race.
